Active Projects

Shepherd Taylor Superconducting (STS) Pty Ltd is a research and engineering development company with over 30 years of experience in manufacturing products in the field of applied superconductivity, telecommunication and power engineering. STS is actively conducting research and engineering development in the following three main areas of interest. These are high temperature superconducting technologies for magnetics, 3D printed superconductors and quantum electronics for ultra-sensitive front-end communication receivers.

Magnetic Management of Military Assets

STS is investigating the magnetic characteristics of military assets. Various forms of magnetic management can be developed depending on the basic modelling paradigm that STS is currently advancing.

3D Printed High Temperature Superconductors

Sovereign capabilities of 3D printed ceramics such as High Temperature Superconductor development is underway. This provides for the superconducting component to be optimised for Size Weight and Power (SWaP). This technology will allow fast prototyping and rapid customisation enabling the integration of superconducting and optical communication equipment.

Ultra Sensitive Front-end Communication Systems

Front-end communication receivers configured for ultra high sensitivity using quantum technology enables applications such as active/passive radar and long range communications to operate beyond current technology. STS is developing technology in two quantum communication fields. These are optical Rydberg detectorS and superconducting Josephson junction receivers.
